MY MODEL RAILWAY HOBBY.
INTRODUCTION.

Hello. My name is Gwyn Humphreys, I have been married to my wife Lyn for 43yrs. and we have three adult children. We live in a small village in Nottinghamshire just outside Newark, where we have now resided for over 25yrs. We originate from North Wales, and are very proud of our Welsh heritage.

In 1986 I had to accept early retirement due to quite severe heart problems. In 1995, I underwent open heart surgery, following which I have had a new lease of life. Throughout this difficult period, my Railway Modelling has been a very big help in my (though limited) recovery.

About 18 months or so ago, my sight deteriorated quite seriously, culminating in surgery on my left eye in August 2000. Now, sight in my right eye is almost non existent, and I look forward to surgery to rectify this in the not too distant future.

I`ve been a Railway Modeller for almost 30yrs. and I`d like to think that I can share my limited experience with other modellers.

I hope the following pages will help.

I am no expert in the Model Railway field, as my main interest lies in aquiring broken, damaged, non-running locos and rolling stock and be able to repair them. It is rewarding to see a loco running well after spending time getting it right.

My modelling "Real Estate" consists of a 12` x 8` garden shed wich doubles as a gardening tools store. Here I have my layout, which is approximately 8` x 3`6", with a four foot, nine track fiddle yard attached at 90 degrees, making the layout appear `L` shaped.

I also have a small shed attached to the house, which is my workshop/den.

My main focus is N Gauge, but really, anything to do with Railways and modelling interests me.

On Wednesday 28th. March 2001. I underwent surgery on my right eye - now both have been done. Having almost normal sight restored is beyond descripion, colours are vivid once more, and now I can hopefully resume my modelling. I look forward to adding further to this site as things progress.
