WE ARE A LIKE MINDED GROUP OF N GAUGE RAILWAY MODELLERS IN THE EAST MIDLANDS PURSUING OUR HOBBY.
Our activities originate from a desire at the end of 1999, by a member to establish a N Gauge group in the East Midlands Area. One could say it was a shot in the dark to contact like minded N Gauge Society members in this area. We held our inaugural meeting early in September 1999, followed by our first established meeting on the second Thursday in January 2000, and it has grown from there. Our original venue was Hawton Village Hall just a couple of miles outside Newark in the countryside. This venue was used successfully for almost twelve months, but the dreaded foot and mouth disease presented problems which meant that another venue had to be found - at least in the short term. However, the Farndon Methodist Church Hall at Farndon - about the same distance from Newark was considered to be a more favourable venue, in terms of location and also less costly. Members assessed the hall and it was found to be very suitable. The first twelve months whilst stimulating was rapidly becoming a talking shop with no modelling action. Roger offered the loan of a spare 6` x 3` layout which he was not using, for use in Group meetings. This triggered a need to build our own (instead of talking about it), the move to our new venue also confirmed this need. We celebrated our first AGM on the 12th.April 2001. at our new venue, when the "Status Quo" was unanimously agreed upon.
